Alabama Hospice & Palliative Care Organization Executive Committee 2017

Michelle Crowell, President -  has been in the nursing field for 25 years with a focus in hospice for the last 15 years. She is currently the Regional QAPI coordinator for LHC Group Inc., serving over the states of Alabama and Idaho and has served in many capacities in hospice including most recently State Administrator. Her passion is serving in the hospice & end of care life arena as well as advocating for domestic violence awareness. She has authored two books, “What Do You See?” which focuses on documentation for hospice eligibility, & “It’s Not About Dying, It’s About Living, Making Difficult Decisions in the Name of Love,” dealing with end of life choices in healthcare.

As everyone one day will have to face end of life issues, Michelle’s goal is that they will have the necessary information to make those decisions about their lives or their family’s lives easier to bear.

 


 

Lisa Teel, Vice-President - is the Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Comfort Care Hospice, LLC and Comfort Care Coastal Hospice, LLC. where she has been employed for 15 years. In August 2015, Lisa was appointed to the Statewide Health Coordinating Council by Governor Robert Bentley to serve the State of Alabama in making significant health care decisions. Lisa is an alumna of the University of Alabama and a licensed social worker.

With over 21 years of professional experience dedicated to the work of Hospice, Lisa is a former recipient of the Alabama Hospice Employee of the Year Award as voted by peers in the hospice industry throughout the state. she is returning as Vice-President of the AHPCO and has served on the Board of Directors for over 15 years.


Allison Glasgow , Secretary - Allison serves as the Compliance Officer of Shepherd's Cove Hospice (formerly Hospice of Marshall County).

 


 

 

Glenn Beville, Treasurer -  earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting in 1991 from the University of North Florida. In 1995, he received his CPA certification. He has over 25 years of experience in finance and accounting, with 20 years of experience in hospice, long-term care, home health, and senior living.  Prior to forming Cardinal Point Consulting, LLC, he held CFO and senior finance positions at a long-term care management company and two hospice/home health organizations.Additionally, Glenn served four years as Executive Director of a non-profit hospice program.

At Cardinal Point Consulting, Glenn specializes in serving the hospice community by providing financial services that hospices could perform internally, but perhaps lack the time or onsite resources to do so in an effective or efficient manner, such as outsourced accounting, outsourced CFO/Controller/Finance Director services, Medicare cost report preparation, Medicare hospice cap mitigation analysis, chart of accounts design, financial benchmarks, and performance measures.


Latrelle Porter, Board Member -  serves as Executive Director of Hospice of West Alabama.  She has more than 16 years hospice experience and has served as social worker at Hospice of West Alabama before becoming it’s director.  She started her social work career working in long-term care at Estes Nursing Home.

Latrelle is a graduate of the University of Alabama.  She has served on AHPCO board of directors for 15 years, currently serving as President.  She has also served on West Alabama Regional Commission’s Ombudsman Advisory Council for 15 years and served as AHPCO President in 2016


 

Susan Freeman, Board Member -  has served as Alacare Home Health & Hospice’s Chief Operating Officer since March of 2012.  She served on the Executive Committee in 2016 and is returning this year.

Prior to this, she served as Chief Administrative Officer and various other roles for the last 24 years. Before joining Alacare she was Director of Clinical Services and Operations for Kimberly Quality Care in Anniston, Alabama.  

 

 


 Tracy Kimbrough, Board Member - was promoted to QA Manager of Cullman Regional Home Care and Hospice in September 2016.  Prior to that, she has served as a Hospice Case Manager and a Home Health Case Manger over a 15 year period.  She has also filled the position of Team Leader for Hospice twice during that time.  She has obtained WCC and CHPN certification in the past.  Tracy has attended WSCC twice and obtained an Associate Degree in Mental Health and an Associate Degree in Registered Nursing.

Prior to her work @ Cullman Regional, she worked as a registered nurse @ UAB.  She filled various positions at UAB including Research Coordinator, Staff Nurse on Neurology floor, Coordinator in IV infusion clinic, OB/GYN oncology nurse.  Tracy is married and has 4 children who are grown.  She also has 4 grandchildren ranging in age from 7 to 18 and is expecting a new grandchild in May of 2017.  Tracy resides in Cullman, AL with her husband of 31 years


 


Kristina Johnson, Board Member -  is the Executive Director of Hospice Family Care, Madison County’s only Not for Profit hospice.  As a registered nurse, Kristina has 10 years of nursing experience and is certified in hospice and palliative care nursing, which along with her personal background provides excellent knowledge and guidance

When not working Kristina enjoys time with her husband and sons, living life to its fullest.   on educating our community on end of life care.

 


Andrew Bar, Non-Provider Board Member -  joined the StateServ Medical family as Regional Sales Director in July of 2013.  He has been a hospice vendor for over five years and prior to StateServ, he was the Regional Director of Business Development for Outcome Resources.  Andrew was lucky enough to have a former hospice nurse as a mother so he grew up with a full understanding of what hospice truly means to the patient, family and provider.

 Andrew has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from The University of West Georgia and currently lives in Smyrna, GA.
